One question I'm struggling with after reading your series is that I don't really get how (save for some greater advocacy about individual choice) the idea of data rights is distinct from data protection?
Are you intending them to be distinct, or is this just a new skin on a much older concept? I totally get reframing as an educational device, but if you want to distinguish these concepts, it's good to know how you see them differently.
When I think of data rights I think more broadly than data protection, though data protection would be a key component. So data rights I think encompasses data protection (e.g., GDPR), online platform governance (DSA), intellectual property (e.g., copyright) and competition/antitrust (e.g., DMA).
