"As I mentioned before, agentic AI refers to AI systems comprising of AI models and other components which are capable, to a certain degree, of perceiving and acting upon its environment. For an agent to operate in its environment and achieve the goal set, it needs a set of actions to follow and a set of tools to use."
Really clean break down. there seems to be a lot of confusion on what an Agent even is.
I do sometimes think the term “agent” is a bit much when describing the latest AI systems, mainly because the reliability of underlying models don’t always live up to the functionalities that a designed to execute and therefore the tasks they are designed to complete. But it is surprising that, if agents do become true agents, and actually capable of completing tasks autonomously with little or no human input, that somehow the AI Act would not apply. It seems bizarre, but that is what is being implicitly suggested…
That’s a fantastic point. I do wonder if it’s by design at all. Some of these regulations keep getting kicked down the road. They will have trouble keeping up by the time it’s actually in place.
